Working with rich text fields

Rich text fields are fields where you can format the content using bold, italics, bulleted, or numbered lists, and much more. In Hyperproof, rich text fields are typically provided for descriptions and longer pieces of text, such as the Notes field on a control.

Note: For security reasons, Hyperproof doesn't support the following:

  • Pasting in formatted text. This is a security measure to prevent malicious code from being introduced. Text is pasted in as plain text and must be formatted directly in the rich text field.

  • Adding URLs that contain '@' within a site name, e.g., http://[email protected].

Text formatting and task integrations

Text formatting is lost when synchronizing tasks between Hyperproof and third-party systems such as Jira, Asana, or ServiceNow. When a task is synchronized between Hyperproof and another system, all rich text formatting is changed to plain text. The formatting languages between the two systems differ, so only the text is processed. The following text elements are removed during a task synchronization:

  • Bold, italic, and underlined text

  • Bullet points and numbered lists

  • Hyperlinks and embedded media

  • Colored text or highlight formatting

To keep your task descriptions clear and readable when syncing between systems, you can use alternative text formatting approaches:

  • Use all-capital letters to emphasize important headings, titles, or sections.

  • Use standard keyboard characters, such as asterisks or dashes, to manually create list structures.

  • Paste full web links directly into the text instead of using hyperlinked display text.
